IDX Broker Platinum or dcIDXpress PRO

So I've contacted with a web designer to build a custom real estate website for me using Wordpress.
Now they want me to choose a IDX plug in. Can the forum give me some guidance for which one to use and why.
I like a big map and good SEO. Most important is user friendliness as most of my clients will be middle aged to older and perhaps searching on ipads and cell phones. The wordpress theme is responsive and retina ready. Thanks for your help.

    Hello!

The Forum is definitely a good place to get feedback from other Users as far as how they are using the product and how they like it, but if you're wanting more information about our Products in general and what they can do for you, it'd be best to actually contact our Product Specialists directly. They can give you good comparisons as far as how our products stack up against some of our competitors and they can let you know which product would be best for what you're trying to do.

To contact them, you can Email: [email protected] or you can call them directly here: 877-348-7654 Ext 1

I like the DS products, but I can tell you that dsIDXpress is not responsive at this time. Hopefully that will change soon, but I've heard no word on the subject from DS. You said you like a big map - dsIDXpress can display results on a map, but it doesn't have an option to search by map. For that you would need dsSearchAgent. If you like big, dsSearchAgent has a full-screen option, which is one of my favorite features.

I would worry that my designer said flip a coin for the idx.. he should already know the idx he can make sing and dance for you.. and he should push that one... while telling you about the others in case you want to choose... but I doubt you know enough to choose.. so he is the pro.. if he is.. meaning he has built a ton and has see the best performance for a or b or c.. so he should be leading you while telling you about other choices.. just to be fair... you did say this is not his first real estate web site didnt you? Don't laugh I have seen many folks fail when it was the designers 400th site but first one for real estate... and saying go find an idx and tell me which one and I will figure out how to work it and how to install if for the first time.. and that gives me bad vibes... I good real estate designer knows which idx you should use.. and he should push you toward it since if you fail.. it makes him look bad... and he does not want to look bad does he... but to say well you picked the idx.. not my fault... just saying.. been there done that...
Diverse is a good choice... but for god sakes don't let a vendor set it up for you if he has never done it before... I know when you go to the hospital for a heart transplant.. you could say... they alwasys have to change that first heart... that is fine but it aint gonna be my heart that he learns on... HaHa... Just sayin'

A few years ago, when I was evaluating all the different IDX platforms for my website, Diverse Solutions was the best. I have to say that I haven't researched any other companies since then so I don't know what is out there anymore.
With that said, I have the least expensive version, which does not support responsive themes, nor does it have a map search. As a work around I have lots of neighborhood pages set up, and linked together, for my clients to see.

They are neither one perfect. I woud use Diverse Solutions for now as that way you will own the domain. With IDX broker it will be yourdomain.idxbroker.com. So when you leave you have no website. Both systems are antiquated in the way they make you search for subdivisions, but that is small price to pay for the conveniance of the product.

In addition, some themes work better with one or the other. Get a trial version for that reason if you can. Don't be afraid to try a couple themes if that helps.

Just a slight correction there ThomasK... just so we don't lead anyone astray... you are right about the mysub.idxbroker.com is one setup method and true you will be indexing on their domain and you cannot take those indexed pages with you... however most folks wll set up on like sold.mydomain.com meaning on a sub of their own domain . you are not forced to use the idxbroker domain.. and you should never do that... but its true you site is now running on a subdomain and not on the main domain as you do with diverse.. so that is a plus... besides when you try to move a subdomain to a full domain.. google says NO NO.. they will not transfer a sub to a main so you will still lose alll your indexed pages if you try to move... just a small correction but an important one..
So bottom line idxbroker is an ok choice.. .but i am leaning toward diverse.. and one of its main features is its not on a subdomain.

tommytx is spot on again regarding the use of yourdomain.idxbroker.com. Only the poorest IDX Broker integrations use the default domain option.
